The National Association of Mapua Alumni (NAMA) joined its alma mater, the Mapua Institute of Technology in the celebration of its 85th foundation last Jan. 25-30, 2010. The festivities started last Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 with a mass at the campus chapel led by the Student Catholic Action group. Right after the mass, MIT President Reynaldo Vea, NAMA President Macra Cruz, NAMA Vice President Maximo Daquil and FOMI President Dolores Lim laid wreaths at the bust of Arch. Tomas Mapua, the man behind our school, who chalked up an undeniable record of academic excellence in the fields of engineering and architecture.

Thereafter, a parade participated in by all the schools of Mapua, faculty members, alumni, ati-atihan and a band toured the surrounding areas of Mapua.
Joining the parade for NAMA are Dr. George Vallesteros, Glecy Estrella, Evelyn Santos & Max Daquil.
A sumptuous lunch hosted by MIT Pres. Dr. Reynaldo Vea was served for the NAMA Board right after the parade.

Alumni Night
The culminating activity of the MIT foundation week was the Alumni Night held last Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010. To start with, a basketball game played by the alumni and the faculty in the afternoon thrilled basketball fans both from the alumni and student body. Col. Rodolph Cannu, sports chairman, led this activity, getting abled support from its managers, NAMA Adviser Sergio Balolong and NAMA 1st VP Maximo Daquil.

Right after the game, the gym was prepared and made up to serve as the venue for the alumni night. One of the highlights of the event was the fireworks display which awed and thrilled not only the alumni but the student body and the neighboring communities as well. Thanks again to FOMI for sponsoring this fireworks display in coordination with Engr. Louie Sarmiento of Orica / MGM Alumni Group. Fellowship and dinner immediately followed this activity. The night’s program was hosted by the tandem of NAMA Adviser Glecy Estrella and NAMA Sec. Ming Moreno. The ceremonies started with an invocation from Dr. George Vallesteros, the singing of the national anthem led by NAMA Treasurer Art Cenal and the singing of the Alma Mater song led by BA Affiliate Rep. Evelyn Santos. For the third time in a row, the Sining Kalinangan, accompanied by their manager, Marie Balagtas, provided the intermission numbers. NAMA Vice President Maximo Daquil gave the welcome address to the attendees. Likewise, NAMA President Macra Cruz and MIT President Reynaldo Vea delivered their messages to the alumni community. Fellowship bonding, dancing and raffle made the night enjoyable to every attendee. NAMA would also like to extend its warmest thanks and appreciation to NAMA Pres. Macra Cruz and Immediate Past Pres. Rodrigo Silvestre for the two (2) lechons, NAMA Adv. Glecy Estrella for the sushi, cash donations from NAMA 1st VP Maximo Daquil & 2nd VP Cong. Jeci Lapus and two (2) boxes of red wine courtesy of IPP Rod Silvestre & 1st VP Max Daquil. The association sincerely appreciates as well Sen. Manny Villar’s generosity for donating raffle items such as umbrellas, wall clocks and rice cooker to the occasion.
